The former owner of the Melrose Resort on Daufuskie Island has pleaded guilty to wire fraud and tax fraud, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of South Carolina said. Acting U.S. Attorney Rhett DeHart's office said James Thomas Bramlette, 42, of Salt Lake City, will receive his sentence “at a later date.”

When did Bloody Point golf Course close?
Bloody Point and Melrose became the sites for two golf courses and resorts. The Bloody Point Course was originally constructed in 1991, with a design by Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish. Both courses eventually fell into bankruptcy and disrepair. Bloody Point was closed from 2008 to 2011.
