What is covered by innoviCares?
The innoviCares card provides financial assistance on more than 100 drugs across all stages of the product lifecycle, from newly launched molecules, specialty and off-patent drugs. Funded by pharmaceutical manufacturers, individual programs may change or end at the independent manufacturer's discretion.
Is innoviCares legitimate?
Innovicares, a program run by STI Technologies, is one of two Canadian companies that manage the cards for the large pharmaceutical companies. STI Technologies receives a fee from the drug companies every time a card is used.
How do I get free prescriptions in Canada?
Under the Canada Health Act, prescription drugs administered in Canadian hospitals are provided at no cost to the patient. Outside of the hospital setting, provincial and territorial governments are responsible for the administration of their own publicly-funded drug plans.
Do seniors pay for prescriptions in Canada?
All OHIP-insured seniors aged 65 years and over automatically qualify for the ODB Program. Seniors pay a $100 annual deductible before they are eligible for drug coverage. After the deductible is paid, seniors then pay a co-payment of up to $6.11 toward the dispensing fee per prescription.
