Is the Patient Activation Measure free to use?

PAM is a COMMERCIAL measure, as is Johns Hopkins', but Dartmouth and Stanford have developed no fee measures. though their PHE tool is also commercial.

What is Flourish Insignia health?

Flourish® is an all-in-one online health education solution that pairs PAM survey results with condition-specific goals and action steps to provide an engaging self-guided journey to better health. Flourish customizes the experience to the user's PAM level, biometric measures and self-reported health data.

How do you score the Patient Activation Measure?

To calculate the total PAM score, the raw score is divided by the number of items answered (excepting non-applicable items) and multiplied by 13. Then, this score is transformed to a scale with a theoretical range 0–100, based on calibration tables, with higher PAM scores indicating higher patient activation [28].

How is the PAM assessment scored?

We know the value of a single point change in PAM and how programme characteristics impact score change. This design also allows PAM to be a rigorous/reliable PROM. Readiness measures are typically just ordinal.

Change in PAM score (pre- and post-) serves as a PROM. We then evaluate changes in PAM score based upon your starting PAM Level

But it's common to also have non-clinical staff trained to help patients complete or to administer PAM as part of the intake or registration process for a programme.

Questions can also be asked directly as would be the case for support programs by phone. Being a clinician is not a prerequisite to administering PAM

Info, goals and action steps need to recognise what they are capable of taking on to make progress towards best-practice self-management. Higher touch advocacy is important.
