What does the DCSA do?

The Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) performs investigations on individuals working for or on behalf of the Executive Branch of the United States per Executive Order 13467, as amended.

Is DCSA part of DoD?

The Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) is an agency of the Department of Defense (DoD) located in Quantico, Virginia with field offices throughout the United States. The OUSD(I&S) provides authority, direction and control over DCSA.

Why would I get a letter from the Department of Defense counterintelligence?

Industrial security letters (ISLs) are issued as necessary to inform cleared contractors for whom the Department of Defense is the Cognizant Security Agency, Government contracting activities, and DoD Components, of developments relating to the National Industrial Security Program.

How do I verify a DCSA investigator?

Is DCSA part of OPM?

The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and the Department of Defense (DoD) will realign the National Background Investigations Bureau (NBIB) with the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) on September 29, 2019.

What is diss DCSA?

DISS is an enterprise-wide personnel vetting adjudications case management system for national security, suitability, fitness, and credentialing eligibility decisions for DoD military, civilian, and contractors. DISS transferred from the Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC) to DCSA on October 1, 2020.
