@HPFederation Excellent performance Michael. From the Bosch contributor "heat pumps haven't taken off", suggesting that demand is low. I suggest this has much to do with the price of electricity, sort that mess out and, as with EVs, heat pumps will fly off the shelves https://t.co/7MgB4Z9mSl

Lamp
@HPFederation @Peter_Spurway @beisgovuk Uptake of the BUS would be greater if a clear pathway to lower cost electricity was signaled (and delivered) by government policy. Increasingly low carbon electricity will drive decarbonisation if the relative cost against fossil fuels reflects the actual climate impact

@HPFederation @duncan__c Possible, but needs careful exploration. If the heat pump needs more that 20,000 litres per day in winter, the scheme would need Environment Agency licencing. In most domestic situations, closed loop ground-source is the low hanging fruit
2022-12-22 00:00:00
Lamp
@HPFederation The installer needs to be called out and accept compulsory retraining or, if they refuse to learn, get out of the sector. Lamp
@HPFederation @Damon_BPHR @Ongasuk @MCSCertified We agree that training needs to be much more rigorous. This extends right across the heating industry which needs to truly reflect that condensing boilers, like heat pumps, are low flow temperature devices. All heating practitioners need to be trained and tested accordingly

@HPFederation @Damon_BPHR @Ongasuk @MCSCertified @MCSCertified and the various trade bodies can only police what is brought to them. The massively improved MCS complaints process is delivering. @HPFederation @fawcett_tina @ConversationUK If condensing boilers had been deployed properly since 2005, we'd already have emitter systems (radiators) that could adopt efficient heat pumps. Actually, there is no evidence yet available confirming the scale of emitter upgrades required. We might be pleasantly surprised!
2022-12-04 00:00:00
Lamp
@HPFederation @fawcett_tina @ConversationUK The authors appear non-technical, so let's cut them some slack. The building has no idea where the heat comes from. Condensing boilers are low flow temperature heat devices. Blaming heat pumps for having to improve building efficiency is a cheap shot.

@HPFederation Arguably, the existing housing stock is a much bigger problem than new build, so we all need RdSAP 2025 at least alongside SAP 2025, if not before. We can't afford to lose another year or more waiting for RdSAP to potter on at some indeterminate time in the distant future
