What happens if my NCARB record expires?
If your NCARB Record or Certificate has lapsed, you will be required to pay a reactivation fee and the current renewal fee for each year the Record or Certificate lapsed, up to $1,100.

Does NCARB cost?
Candidates currently pay $350 for the first three years when they establish an NCARB Record followed by a $75 annual record maintenance fee. Those who establish a new record on or after June 29, 2016, will pay $100 for the first year and $85 per year for renewal.
Is NCARB a demo exam?
ARE 5.0 Demonstration Exam
We offer a free demonstration of the exam, available through your NCARB Record. The demonstration includes 75 practice questions over a three-hour testing duration, and will help you become familiar with the testing interface, question types, tools, and available references.
Are NCARB online?
In December 2020, NCARB launched the option for candidates to take the Architect Registration Examination® (ARE®) via online proctoring. Candidates continue to have the option to test in person through Prometric's global network of test centers.
