How do I get a copy of my title deeds in Scotland?

If your title deeds aren't with your bank or building society, and you don't know where they are, you can get a copy from Registers of Scotland – you'll need to pay a fee for this. If you need more advice about what the title deeds say, you can get free advice from Citizens Advice or you can find a solicitor to help.

How can I find out who owns a property for free UK?

Head to GOV.UK and conduct a title deeds search. HM Land Registry holds records on most property or land sold in England or Wales since 1993. These records include details of the title register, title plan, title summary and flood risk indicator.

Is land Registry the same as deeds?

Title deeds / Title register are the same thing, although the plan and register will summarise the old paper deeds. You will be given copies of the paper deeds for reference/interest, if they exist. If they don't, then there will be none.
