Which Texas teachers union is the best?
Is TSTA a union?
It is the only group affiliated with the national AFL-CIO and is the most vocally pro-union. Since collective bargaining, the primary tool for unions, is outlawed in Texas, TSTA and AFT both support exclusive consultation, where one agent represents teachers in suggesting salaries and benefits.
Do Texas teachers have a union?
Texas is a right-to-work state. Teachers are prohibited from engaging in collective bargaining. TCTA is not a union, is not affiliated with any national unions, and does not support collective bargaining.
