UNAIDS data have been trusted and used by countries and organizations around the world to guide and monitor their responses to HIV since UNAIDS' inception in 1996.
Where is UNAIDS located?
UNAIDS' main office is located in Geneva, Switzerland. In addition to its Geneva-based staff, UNAIDS is posting Country Programme Advisers in approximately 50 countries and intercountry teams in selected locations.
What is the purpose of UNAIDS?
UNAIDS provides the strategic direction, advocacy, coordination and technical support needed to catalyse and connect leadership from governments, the private sector and communities to deliver life-saving HIV services. Without UNAIDS, there would be no strategic vision for the AIDS response.
Is UNAIDS successful?
The second independent evaluation concluded that UNAIDS has been successful in achieving political and social mobilisation. In 2010, it supported the development of epidemiological estimates in 151 countries, and supported 41 countries to develop national strategic or operational plans.
