What medications prevent you from donating platelets?

4) Antiplatelet medications
Antiplatelet medications like aspirin, Plavix, Ticlid, Effient, and Brilinta don't affect waiting periods for donating blood. But they do affect platelet donation. You must wait at least 2 days after taking aspirin to donate platelets.

Can I donate blood if I take eliquis?

Arixtra (fondaparinux), Fragmin (dalteparin), Eliquis (apixaban), Pradaxa (dabigatran),Savaysa (edoxaban), Xarelto (rivaroxaban),and Lovenox (enoxaparin) are also prescription blood thinners- you should not donate since your blood will not clot normally.

Can I give blood if I have basal cell carcinoma?

If you've had lower risk precancerous conditions or in-situ cancers like squamous or basal cell cancers of the skin, you are typically not required to go through the 12-month waiting period before blood donation. After removal of the skin cancer, the waiting period is only around four weeks.

Why can't you give blood after a colonoscopy?

The reason is twofold, firstly there are certain diagnoses that would either prevent them from donating blood ever again, one being IBD, or prevent them from donating until all investigations and treatment have been completed, and secondly, because there are case reports of patient to patient transmission of viruses ...
