Do you need a CAC to log into AKO?

You can access DOD Mobile Webmail by following this link: https://web-mech01.mail.mil/owa. You will need a CAC (Common Access Card) to access it. What happened to enterprise email?
The Army is ditching the current Defense Enterprise Email System and moving to a Microsoft Office 365-based service that, in addition to email, would provide some soldiers with access to Teams and SharePoint, among other software services.
