Frequently Asked Questions

Which is better to join National Trust or English Heritage?

Although both memberships are great for history lovers, the English Heritage obviously wins this one as their portfolio focuses on historic castles and ancient ruins more than the National Trust does (which is more of a variety of everything).

How much is senior membership of English Heritage?

English Heritage membership prices for 2022/2023
Membership Annual Lifetime
Senior (age 60+) £57 £1,170
Adult & Senior £99 n/a

Can I use my National Trust card at English Heritage sites?

Can I use my National Trust card for entry into English Heritage sites? No. The memberships are separate and being a member of one organisation will not gain you entry into the other.

What are the best English Heritage sites?

Here are the top 10 choices, accompanied by some of your comments on what makes these places so special to visit with your family.

On August 1st I wrote to English Heritage at the Freepost address in London EC1 enclosing my retired staff pass which expired last year for renewal. It is now 2 weeks and I have had no response. I am anxious to take my grandchildren to an event at Brougham Castle on Sunday 20th August for which I would like my updated pass. Please can you look into this.
