Do employers contribute to IMRF?
IMRF member contributions are not used to fund IMRF death benefits. The contributions from all employers are pooled to pay this benefit, much like life insurance. The rates are calculated separately for each employer based on the average age of its employees. Employers with older employees pay a higher rate.
How do I find my IMRF member ID?
You will see your IMRF Member ID Number on your member statement in place of your Social Security Number. You will also see your IMRF Member ID Number on any correspondence you receive from IMRF, and you can use it when calling IMRF or when completing an IMRF form.

How many years does it take to be vested in IMRF?
Most IMRF members participate in IMRF's Regular plan. A Regular Tier 1 member needs at least eight years to vest (be eligible) to receive an IMRF Regular plan pension. The earliest age a Regular Tier 1 member can receive a pension is age 55 (reduced) and age 60 (full pension).
