When you're ready to act and need an exact cost, file an APPLICATION FOR PURCHASE OF FUTURE SERVICE CREDIT with URS no earlier than 90 days before your proposed retirement date. Plan ahead: It may take up to 45 days to give you an exact cost. credit may allow you to retire earlier than you otherwise would.

How is SURS retirement calculated?
How is the SURS Money Purchase Formula calculated? The Money Purchase Formula is based on the employee's normal retirement contributions and interest, and an imputed employer (State of Illinois) contribution. This total dollar amount is then divided by an age annuity conversion factor, determined by the SURS actuary.
